120 Days of Retail: Day 54 - Picking up Hot Coffee and Cold Ice Cream with an app

No major update today. I am focusing on getting the product ready for an MVP beta launch on Sunday.

That said- it's great to see how quickly pickup in-store is spreading across retailers and shops. So much so that I used it twice today! For ordering Starbucks and ordering Häagen-Dazs ice cream, both in Brooklyn Heights.

The challenge for ListIt is building out a solution that doesn't just work for a small store with a limited menu, but for any retail store with a changing menu. The other challenge is making this for independent stores instead of large stores with preexisting digital inventory systems that yield themselves to being easier to work with.

But, if you can order a double scoop of birthday cake ice cream on a cake cone from Haagen-Dasz and be there to pick it up before it melts, that is a huge green flag for the industry in general.

As we've stated before, pickup in-store is growing faster than delivery each year. We're building ListIt to include independent retailers in that transition to omnichannel as well.
